Our Impact

Every ton of food waste rescued from the landfill is equivalent to removing the greenhouse gas emissions for over 5 fuel burning cars from the road each year.

It is estimated that the reduced greenhouse gas emissions from the food waste collected in a single 50 gallon Painted Bin, will be the equivalent of removing 1 fuel-burning car from the road each year and the carbon sequestered is equivalent to over 80 tree seedlings grown for 10 years. On a social level, Painted Bins helps to lessen the toxins released from the landfill, thereby improving the health circumstances of nearby residents.

“We are thrilled to bring Painted Bins to Corte Madera, and appreciate their partnership in helping Corte Madera meet its commitments on sustainability and waste diversion.”

— Eli Beckman, Corte Madera Councilmember, Corte Madera, CA
